How to become tender ready
The documents and steps that qualify you to bid — and the paperwork mistakes to avoid.
Tender readiness is mostly about paperwork. Many SMME bids fail before price is considered because mandatory documents are missing, expired, or inconsistent. Getting your documents current and consistent is the single biggest thing you can do to compete.
The core tender-ready checklist
- Active CIPC registration with Annual Returns up to date
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN
- Active, accurate CSD profile
- B-BBEE affidavit or certificate
- COIDA Letter of Good Standing (where required)
- Sector registrations such as CIDB, NHBRC or PSIRA (where relevant)
- A professional capability statement
Why bids get disqualified
Common reasons are documents that have expired, details that do not match across documents, or a required form left out. A readiness check before you submit catches these before they cost you the bid.
